The Programmer is responsible for writing custom code for AMX, Creston and Extron to enable ease of use of complex Audio-Visual systems by non-technical users. The position involves programming systems, using a wide range of control systems, assisting with design, control system commissioning and installation, control system standardization, control system servicing and the preparation of user manuals for completed installations.

1.  Programming

  • Program AMX, Creston and Extron Control Processors.
  • Program Polycom, Biamp and ClearOne Audio DSP processors.
  • Develop, write and implement system control code to include touch panel GUI design and control logic.
  • Revises, enhances, updates and installs vendor supplied systems software components to optimize performance of the systems.
  • Ensures the security and integrity of all systems and data.
  • Converts software specification requirements into appropriate programming languages.
  • Understand A/V signal flow diagrams and nomenclature.

2.  Coordination with Customers

  • Communicate with customers regarding user interfaces and control functionality
  • Evaluate and enhance existing conference room control systems.
  • Collaborate and work with a team of Engineers, Project Managers, Integration Technicians, Account Managers and Clients.
  • Perform system testing, commissioning and training.
  • Researches specific technical software and related questions and problems from users, management, programming, operating and systems personnel.
  • Coordinates between personnel using the systems and vendor support personnel.
  • Implements system recovery operations in the event of destruction of all or part of the control system or other system components.
  • Participates in the planning, installation and implementation of equipment interfaces and peripheral devices.
  • Analyzes software specifications for completeness and compatibility with operating system capabilities.
  • Provides technical assistance to applications programming personnel and other appropriate user personnel relating to the operating system.


3.  Performs area specific support activities

  • Recommends policies and procedures for the area.
  • Reviews, tests and evaluates new versions of operating systems and related software.


Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5 years of commercial audio-visual experience with a minimum of two years programming experience.
  • Creston Certified Programmer
  • Creston DMC-E.
  • Troubleshooting control code with firm deadlines in place.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
  • Excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail.
