A Technical Director is the lead technical resource at Carousel for driving delivery excellence. This role is primarily focused on growing the post-sales delivery process including implementation and development of Unified Communication, Video, and Mobile collaboration.
Under the leadership of a Chief Engineer, a Technical Director actively drives and manages the development of solution area offerings, technical best practices, sales lifecycles (including pre- and post- sales engagements), and escalations. This position plays an important role in the mentorship, technology education, and career development of solution area engineers.
Working in conjunction with Carousel’s TSL, Architects and Account Executives, a Technical Director serves as the key technical advisor, product advocate, subject matter expert, and educator for solution area offerings. A Technical Director may design, position, and propose technology solutions and must have a hands-on “command line” level knowledge primarily with Cisco and Microsoft Unified Communication solutions. In certain situations, the Technical Director may assume the role of the technical project lead on solution area client projects to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of project, product, and/or program delivery.
This is a challenging but rewarding leadership consulting position that will expose the successful candidate to a broad spectrum of design, implementation, and support of IT technology, process, and resources. We seek someone who is able to handle multiple responsibilities and who genuinely enjoys the challenge of doing/learning different things as needed. This individual must be comfortable functioning with a high level of independence and will be responsible for interfacing and collaborating with all levels of customer personnel, from their systems administrator to CIO.
Technical Director is responsible for enabling the strategic plan developed by the Chief Engineer they report to. This includes:
The Technical Director may serve as an escalation for both pre- and post-sales scenarios. At times working as a pre-sales Solutions Architect (especially as it relates to complex or new technology solutions design) or as billable technical leadership in post-sales delivery (especially as it relates to mentoring of less experienced talent, rolling out of new/emerging products and services, or in planning/quality assurance).
In addition to project support, the Technical Director is also responsible for providing that same measure of escalation, mentorship, and quality assurance support to the Solution Area team members that serve in a managed services capacity.
Technical Directors will meet with Pre-Sales Engineering and Architects to create a constant feedback loop of product/service offering innovation and refinement.
On an ongoing basis, Technical Directors will engage in “1on1” meetings to provide mentorship and feedback to engineers. Progress will be shared with the Director of Professional Services and Director of Managed Services for overall career development.
