Responsibilities

The Product Manager – Public Safety is responsible for the overall definition, creation, development, and maintenance of core IT solution capabilities in alignment with their parent Offering area of focus.  Product Managers work closely with multiple groups throughout the company, especially product management, sales, solutions, and marketing to develop new offers.   These will include the following tasks for each offering: strategic sales positioning, market research, partner evaluation, road mapping additional functionality, and inspecting the current offer and future business and operating requirements. This role has accountability for the designated offering to the Vice President of Offerings, the Office of the CTO (OCTO), executive leadership, and the overall organization.

Scope of Role Responsibilities

Essential, key job responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Translates market and customer requirements into repeatable solution offerings that deliver measurable positive business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with offer managers, product managers, and EMP team to create cross-offering architectures.
  • Works within the NWN Offering Architecture framework to define new solutions.
  • Understand and articulate the Offerings capabilities, including strategic positioning, road mapping, and related tasks.
  • Work with Product Management to define clear requirements for services including the architecture, entitlement deliverables, system and platform enablement, and engineering delivery of solutions in a given solution or offering area.
  • Lead, manage, and transform the Offering to ensure it stays relevant to the market and customers.
  • Presenting of Offering capabilities (including demonstrations where needed) both internally and externally.
  • Manage and maintain a collaborative style (with cross-functional team members) and approach.
  • Promote and develop both positive and professional working relationships with and between all team members.
  • Drive strong corporate culture by demonstrating a clear vision while establishing and articulating a set of standardized and professional individual and corporate values.
  • Regular communications to both the OCTO leadership teams focusing on Offering capabilities and roadmap, including current offering performance and Sales Transformation Leadership.
  • Understand Offering Financials and the ability to drive, generate, and recognize offering revenue.
  • Offer Management & Sales Responsibilities
    • Evaluates public safety products and solutions to bring to market
    • Assist Offering Lead with developing costing models for NWN solutions
    • Assist with the creation of quote-to-cash methods and workflows
    • Provides product and sales training
    • Works with legal for contract and regulatory matters
    • Sets sales strategy for Public Safety products and services
    • Mentors and works closely with public safety Account Executives and Business Architects
    • Responsible for assisting with revenue growth and market expansion
    • Lead Public Safety partner management
    • Works with marketing to promote NWN products and solutions
    • Assist with National and State Contracts
    • Provide sales funnel forecasts and project forecasts
    • Participates in NENA and APCO industry tradeshows and events
  • Technical Requirements
    • Deep technical knowledge of premise and cloud-based 9-1-1 Call Handling Equipment and principles
    • Familiarity with Motorola VESTA, Carbyne, MicroAutomation or comparable 9-1-1 CHE solutions
    • Familiarity with public safety applications including RapidSOS, Convey911, CAD, Mapping, and Voice Recording
    • Understand L2 and L3 network designs used for multi-site PSAP deployments
    • Familiarity with NENA i3 NG9-1-1 standards
    • Proficient in LAN switch, router, SBC, and firewall designs and deployments
    • Understands telco carrier network services (Ethernet, 9-1-1 and NG9-1-1, SIP, T1/PRI, SDWAN)
    • Creates and maintains detailed technical diagrams and drawings

  • Build strong relationships with NWN’s Offerings Teams, Product Management, Sales Enablement, technical architect, and Customer Success service teams.
  • On-going self-study to continuously improve skills relative to strategic technology direction and service offerings.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Role Qualifications and Requirements

The following are the minimum qualifications and requirements required for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related experience.
  • 10 years of experience in an IT role related to the supported offering
  • 5+ years working on solution development in an IT solution provider is a plus.
  • Clear understanding of the ITIL framework and its associated deliverables. ITIL v3 Foundational certification or better is a plus.
  • Involvement in industry councils or user groups is a plus.
  • Experience working with solution design, job costing, and quality planning.
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills
  • Fluent with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Must possess strong influential leadership skills.
  • Must possess excellent time management skills.
  • Must possess excellent client/customer interface skills.
  • Ability to develop/ deliver management presentations.
  • Excellent verbal written communication skills are required.
  • Excellent high-level problem-solving skills.

Travel:  less than 30% travel required.
