Responsibilities

The Senior Manager of Billing Operations is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and management of all billing processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across the organization. This role involves leading a high-performing team, driving operational improvements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize billing workflows and enhance the customer experience. The Senior Manager will play a key role in scaling billing operations to support the company’s growth while ensuring financial integrity.

Scope of Role Responsibilities

Essential, key job responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage the billing operations team, ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of all customer invoices, credit memos, and adjustments.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the billing department to optimize processes, improve accuracy, and streamline workflows.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in billing operations, including system enhancements, process automation, and best practice implementation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Sales, Finance, Customer Service, and IT teams, to ensure alignment between billing processes and business objectives.
  • Oversee the end-to-end billing lifecycle, including invoicing, collections, dispute resolution, and payment processing.
  • Manage and resolve complex billing issues, escalated disputes, and discrepancies in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements related to billing and revenue recognition.
  • Develop and enforce key performance indicators (KPIs) for the billing team and ensure targets are met consistently.
  • Prepare and analyze detailed billing reports, including revenue forecasting, accounts receivable aging, and billing cycle performance metrics.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of billing-related documentation for external audits and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  • Work closely with the Finance team to support accurate revenue recognition, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
  • Mentor, train, and develop billing team members to foster a high-performance culture and encourage career growth.
  • Support system integration efforts and the implementation of new technologies to improve billing operations and data accuracy.
  • Ensure timely billing cycle completion and the resolution of any delays or bottlenecks that may impact revenue recognition.
  • Other duties as assigned by Finance Management based on Finance department initiatives and priorities. Job responsibilities of role may change based on Finance Management discretion.

Qualifications

The following are minimum qualifications and requirements required for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA is a plus).
  • 7+ years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, or financial operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Proficient with Oracle NetSuite, Salesforce, and ServiceNow
  • Extensive knowledge of billing systems, revenue recognition, accounting principles, and industry regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate billing strategies clearly to senior management.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with a focus on mentoring and developing talent.
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service through a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and timely completion of duties
  • Display appropriate ethical knowledge through extraordinary confidentiality, integrity and professional presentation and conduct
